According to The Telegraph report by Hayley Dixon date20 May 2013: James Bond’s watch to go under the hammer, a bargain hunter snapped up the Breitling Top Time a couple of years ago. The watch was made in 1962 and adapted by the James Bond art department and was the only product produced for the movie. The whereabouts of the watch was a mystery for many years until it was discovered at a car boot sale.
The Telegraph report goes on to say that the piece will be a great opportunity for collectors when it goes under the hammer at Christie’s auction house in London next month with an estimated sale price of £40,000 to £60,000. In October 2012 Christies and EON Productions presented 50 years of James Bond – The Auction and raised £1,641,350, which was donated to twelve charities including UNICEF, Barnardo’s, Women for Women, Parkinson’s UK and ChildLine.
Private Investigators Gloucester is often asked about James Bond type equipment, especially during the 50th Anniversary of James Bond last year. A lot of the equipment in the Bond films is real and can be used by a private detective such as some of the watches, tracking devices and hidden cameras. Although it is not as glamorous as in a Bond film, spy equipment is really useful.
A spokesperson from Private Investigators Gloucester, Dan Wells said:
“James Bond equipment is real and in my professional opinion it would be difficult to get the same results using different methods of investigation.”
