Review: Brendan Cole at Hippodrome, License to Thrill 5/5 This is Bristol -- Strictly Come Dancing is compelling viewing for so many of us through the long Saturday nights of winter, and after eleven series, we are all familiar with the presenters, judges but more importantly the professional dancers. There is one in particular whose face and reputation, we are all aware of – Brendan Cole. Week after week, I am one of many who has been memorised by his beautifully choreographed dances, and relationships with his celebrity partners. So when offered with a chance to see him on stage, who wouldn't say yes! Cole has been touring with his live shows since 2010 and back by popular demand, License to Thrill doesn't fail to disappoint. Joined by five other professional dancers, including his brother Scott, and fellow Strictly Come Dancing performer, Aliona Vilani, this show takes you to that BBC television studio on a Saturday night. His brilliant 14 piece band, together with the voices of two stunning singers in Julie Maguire and Iain Mackenzie, delighted us with familiar dances, such as the Waltz, Samba, Argentine Tango and the Quickstep to well-known tunes such as Man with the Golden Gun, Live and Let Die and Cry Me a River. You find yourself unable to stop smiling throughout. Brendan Cole clearly enjoys what he does, and isn't afraid to let you know, and you can see him watching us, his audience, enjoy it along with him. The evening is a mix of dances, music and a chance for his fans to get to know him with a Q&A session in the second half of the show. By the end of the evening, you feel like you have really met this television star. With his charming smile and charismatic demeanour, Brendon Cole is James Bond himself. He interacts with the crowd including teaching a twelve year girl the cha cha cha and encouraging us all to dance along to the famous Dirty Dancing (I've Had) The Time Of My Life. Finishing with the Jive to Footloose, it was inevitable that the cast along with Cole would receive a standing ovation. He will never fail to perform to a captive and grateful audience wherever he goes for which he is clearly very grateful. For any Strictly Come Dancing and Brendan Cole fan, this was a great night, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone of all ages. Reported by This is 17 hours ago.
