SIR Anthony Hopkins was once a contender to play 007, he has revealed.
Speaking at a BAFTA Life in Pictures event, following the premiere of his new film, Hitchcock, Hopkins, who hails from Port Talbot, revealed that he was, briefly, in the running to play Bond, in 1971.
The offer came following his turn as a British agent in the spy film When Eight Bells Toll.
"I was, believe it or not," he said.
"I met Cubby Broccoli and I didn't think I was the right material for Bond but it was flattering to be offered it." Reported by This is 12 hours ago.
